Song of the day

K'naan

Cake or Death

My favortie comedian is Eddie Izzard. If I turn on youtube at work and listen while I work, I laugh out loud. NOW, if anyone has ever heard my witch cackle, it's not the best laugh to have heard ringing from one side of the office to the other. So I had to stop watching him at work. Anyway: here is one of my favorite topics of his--

and so

Start off with a song that’s been on my head for awhile. Strange how you have to hear the entire song in order for it to maybe go away or maybe you'll hear the entire thing and HATE it so you just won't allow such tunes to come out of your mouth.- otherwise it’s just replaying in your head, the only parts of the song that you can remember. so. ok. enough of my blabber. I'm a liar, I'm just scared to admit that BeyoncĂ© is a guilt of mine.

Song of the day: Beyoncé - Diva

So remember how I was drooling over Charley Harper, I decided what print will be in my home.

"Gallinule and Gator" Frame it. Love it. Done.

GETTING FEATURED

Don't you wish you could just throw it all in and become a musician/rock star for a day??? Just to get dressed in a world where you wear whatever you want and the next day all the scenesters are doing it. All fashion accepted and applauded. Nothing says cool like not taking a shower for days all out of sake for playing your music on the road. I'm talking to all of you fangirl and fanboys out there. You know you would like to be that band you watch on the stage.....whatever band that may be, all of you feel the envy while watching a band you love. Me, I just want a day. Once, Twice, Three-Times that awesome lead, wailing my lungs out on stage and having people sing my songs along with me.......SOOOOOOOOOO Here's to the latest show I saw: Manchester Orchestra. But the song of the day goes to the band that opened for them.......

Spring

As is the case for most weekends, I won't be posting, because I'll be really busy. Busy hanging out outside because tomorrow is SPRING and also I don't have wifi at home (yet). I don't care, I'm in my yard regardless if this snow continues. Which if that is the case "EPIC FAIL, spring!!!!" I'll be grilling, eating, and drinking outdoors, HOPEFULLY.

I will also be helping my sister re-accessorize her house as well as getting my hair done. My hair lady friend, Lisa is going to give me some shine and I'm going to break my own rules (no dye diet) with a few foils, just a few around my face. What can I say?? I've always been an unnatrual and it's hard going cold turkey from the hair dye.

Also another big win for my weekend, my mom will be here! She'll be kickin' it with me outside and we'll start the neighborhood party for the kick off of spring.

Song for this Friday: Pixies--Here comes your Man (it talks about being outside)......

The Irish

Things I've heard today:

"There are only two kinds of people in the world, The Irish and those who wish they were."

"It is better to spend money like there's no tomorrow than to spend tonight like there's no money!"

Things I've seen today:

And quotes about today said by others in the past:

Charles M. MadiganSt. Patrick -- "one of the few saints whose feast day presents the opportunity to get determinedly whacked and make a fool of oneself all under the guise of acting Irish."

Author Unknown-- "Anyone acquainted with Ireland knows that the morning of St. Patrick's Day consists of the night of the 17th of March flavored strongly with the morning of the 18th."

Things I will eat later:

Song of the Day: Flogging Molly "Drunken Lullabies" Side One Dummy
PS. Flogging Molly with Metric in Phoenix tonight. Wa Wa, too bad I live so in-land that even trying to make that show would be as foolish as an Irishman. Have fun Dan and Chris, you A**holes. I better get texts, video and merch. ***CURSING LOUDLY!***

sooooooo

here is an update:
Another favortie of mine is Charley Harper. Don't worry I liked him before Todd Oldham or Lazyboy got ahold of him. He did illustrations for Ford Times and I remember seeing his American Modernist artwork from way back when I was a kid. Although, Todd Oldham did come out with a great line of upholstery and furniture using Charley's work. Anyway: Charley (August 4, 1922 - June 10, 2007) today is for you......

I'd put any of his illustrations on my body. Permanent Fan.

Past the enemy lines.

In the begining: And still no end: We stumbled into friendship, passing all the girl enemy lines: becasue let's face it girl on girl friendship is hard and staying close with those girl friends is even harder. Most of the time I feel as if, in a room of women, most of them would scratch my eyes out if given a chance.

So, back in the begining we thought all there was was hitting the town, taking turns holding hair as one got sick, spraying pepper spray at each other for fun just to see if it REALLY hurt, hanging out on the roof top of Sarah and Bethany's apartment or just having as much "college" fun as we could. And now as we all are getting married, having kids, living in different cities we just realized our love and creatvity could save the world. So take a breif moment and compare the begining to the still no end photos and see how much we've evolved. No more bleach/peroxide, much less booze and I believe some mighty professional looking outfits.

Song of the day is a band we all grew to love together and this song is the song that reminds me of all of us in my garden level apartment sleeping off the night before and Jill sleeping sideways in my pull out bed: Bright Eyes Gold Mine Gutted---

Subject to change

As I predicted, the weekend activities are already switching in up. Last night Jax and I head to the airport at 8:15 to check Bethany from her 8:30 flight. When we arrive screens tell us it's delayed, so we find a nice window seat at the BAR (only place open that late) to wait. Jax had a tasty root beer and I had a tasty Stella. (I deserve one, it's Friday and tap time) we keep checking the screens for updates and eventually "approching" then "landed". Jax grew in antisapation. We wait, looking through what had to be a full southwest flight but as the crowd thins, here comes the pilots and crew. Hmmmmm, no Bethany. I called her, knowing immediatly she changed interiary and didn't tell me!!!!! Yep she'll be here with Sarah today at 12:30. STINKER!!! Oh well what's an hour and a half in the airport....actually $4.25 in parking!!!!! Well anyway here's a shot of Jax watching for that southwest plane.....

Cuban

Cuban song and Soon to have a Cuban Rueben....It's a Cuban day

On that same note it's Friday!!! And guess what tonight is??? READ. Only 9.5 hours to go until start.

But I started my day at SBI with a wellness assessment from the Nebraska Lions Foundation. They brought their trailor onsite:
and screened me for hearing:
and blood pressure (this is Anitha and she's my beautiful Indian lady friend :dot not feather):and blood sugar (Tim's getting his finger pricked. wa wa I want my mommy):and lastly (which I didn't snap a pic of becasue it's terrible) is the glaucoma test. It's like a horror film, you know that little blast of air is coming, you just don't know when. The music gets louder as the little light moves closer to your eye and your trying to not blink becuase the guy testing you is repeating "Try not to blink" and then BAM. Blast of air and its over, your eyeball is dead and the movie is over (roll credits).....BUT I'm healthy as a 28 year old should be, good news.

Ok ladies and dudes, enjoy your Friday. Enjoy your life and enjoy your lunch today, I know I will. I am taking a client out for lunch to Worker's. He is a guy who loves less and meat so I figure this place is perfect. And they have the best food ever.....

Extra Pairs

I’ve been making plans for my Chicagoan Extra Pairs all week, and I already feel overwhelmed. You see in my circle of girl friends there are 6 of us (not complaining just hard to coordinate and not hurt feelings):

Standard Tap at 8:30 (Bethany’s flight lands)

then as many seasons of it’s Always Sunny that we can rent and watch before night night

then Jill, Kristin, Niki and offspring to join us Saturday morning. I imagine so much interrupting, unfinished stories, and passing of baby Chauncey (I tend to hog him)

then Sarah’s flight lands and maybe another Standard Tap time

then grocery store

then Kristin’s house, for food and even more unfinished stories and interrupting (it’s just we all never see each other in one place at the same time and we all have SO much to say)

maybe a little wine and maybe a little laughing?

then maybe bedtime?

then the next morning a trip to Valley to be covered in beagle hair and more lovin on that baby

then a trip back to Erskine to see Niki’s baby and her new curtains. :)

then maybe BIG LOVE watchin’ party?? (wait season finale was last Sunday, CRAP)

wanna come get overwhelmed with us?I'm sure it's subject to change - so check back here for live blogging/updates from each location, or just subscribe to my facebook. PSYCHED!!!

Song Song Song

Daniel Merriweather - Cigarettes

"Creative Whrilwind"

I subscribe to 2 magazines that have to do with my industry of work. Interior Design and Dwell. I recieve my copies and do either one of two things: 1. put it in the to read pile 2. or open it immediatly because the cover has struck my fancy. (really this happens every time but there is just not enough time in the day especially since I like to have 6 to 7 hours of sleep a night.) My to read pile quickly grows, sadly. But TODAY, marvolous today, my Interior Design came: the cover was this:
Plant a Seed.....Ok!!!! Read on.....The article How Does Your Garden Grow? Home owner Joost Backer (florist, installation artist and lover of sustainable design) and architect Brendan Jones tell their tale of this sustainable design home(of course, that's what all the kids on my side of the world/industry are doing) and it's "Creative Whirlwind". Side note: Joost is now on the ongoing tab for boys names.

4 KEY points about this house/structure that I was in AW of the creative sustainability ideas are as follows:
1. Concrete slab foundation insulated by straw. Straw you say? That's right densely packed and they say has better Australia's energy-efficiency rating by 2 or 3 points. Side note: straw is also used for landscaping purposes so that plants were protected from freezing.

2. The facade of the house is screened by rows of terra cotta flowerpots-11,000 of those little pots. And in the summer bloom strawberries. sidenote: strawberries are good

3. The overall concept of this villa was obviously floral sustainability and that was even achieved in the materials selected for decor. Cabinetry, shelving, beds, and doors once used to crate mining equipment. Phew....That's just awesome. You could see the branding marks and stenciled numbers all over these now functional pieces in this home.

4. And lastly FELT! I love Felt. Remember in Sunday school when the teachers would have those felt boards and felt props to add as they told the story. Yeah....They used felt as curtains. (be still my heart)

End result: I want to live in Australia and wake up to strawberries all around me. Does this really exist? and where can my dream house begin? Go ahead read the article, it's good stuff.

Dick, Kyra and Friends

You can't begin to know the history I come from. Think small, like the smallest town you know. Subtract that by 2500 and you've got my home town. I grew up in a town of 300 and I believe to get that number they included family pets??! I'm not a person who will sit here and go on and on about how great things were or that my childhood was perfect or that I'm the luckiest or happiest. (you know those awful yearbook writings from those morons, "reach for the stars and you will go far". I actually wrote in a kid friend of mine's annual and said "don't forget to feed your goats") However, I miss my childhood: I miss riding my bike. I miss the 2 great big pine trees in our back yard that my friends and I would play all day in. We would pretend we were on a stranded island and our only survival was to eat the apples from our forbidden neighbor’s tree. I miss Tom Cody, old creepy man who if you got too close you'd gag from the smell of urine and he would pinch you. I miss the grocery store, run and operated by the Duryea Family. I loved the candy section. I miss 308-643-2393. I miss RRI Box 72A. I miss the shoot. I miss the noise this sliding door made in the kitchen which when you heard it meant 2 thing: 1. I was about to be beaten with a fly swatter or Jill (our toy poodle) was getting fed. I miss the shop. (My grandpa-Eldon owned a trucking business and the shop was the place the trucks came to for maintenance) He (Eldon) drove a golf cart around because he lost his license from too many DUI's and he also had a power wash. I miss that too. BUT what all of this rambling is about today is to show you my favorite parts of my childhood:

My Grandpa Richard (his friends called him Dick) and my sister Kyra! (1988) And my beautiful mom and dad.(1982) LOOK.....

A total distortion

I made a blood brother pack with Tim Burton a long time ago, his promise to never fail and my promise to never miss. Miss a film of his that is.....Had the pleasure of Alice in Wonderland on Saturday and here are my critically acclaimed thoughts :)

Don't think twice, imagination is the ultimate blockbuster hit. do it all and distort it all, it's so whimsical I'm envious of his wildly, untamable creativeness.

The only true currency in this broken US of States is a movie to spend your very few dollars on, to escape into the whimsical imagination of a genius.

And lastly a very weird law of attraction going on while watching this film :) It's kind of like my friend's attraction to Bill Murray. No justification to the usual that are the rules of attraction, this breaks those rules. ~The Mad Hatter was just AWESOME!

Marching On

Ironically it's March, so why not march on past this flu? Seriously, I am now going on my 4th day of feeling badly. So today, I give it up. Trash day is today, so I'm leaving this illness curbside (hope this works, mind set) Last night, in a moment of goodness, I was able to wash (in very hotwater) everything I've touched in the last 4 days: blankets, pillows, sheets, bathroom floors, carpets, sofas, ect. Jaxson was there to ax this illness with me. Watch the belows to see our progress.

Eat Me Alive

"If I stumble, their gonna eat me alive"--Emily Hanies. She's by far, hands down, favorite singer/song writer. This week has been consumed by sickness and weakness and awful flu. So her song...Help I'm Alive is the theme of my week. I am at work today and I start off with my usual email check, meeting with Project Managers about things going on, meetings with my sales people to make sure they know I didn't die and then the usual facebook check. It led to more things to eat me alive with. You know me: Big, Mouthy, and unable to cope with defeat very well. Both plans and non-plans no longer matter, I just want to uphold my sweatpants only rule like I have done for the last 6 or so months. Lifestyle changes (whether I wanted them or not) are at my doorstep and I just want my freaking sweatpants and kid to cuddle with. You had to expect my blogging to be bad this week, I mean the flu is never a good companion. I guess I'm genuine and can't help but wear it all out on my sleeve/blog

PaperFlu

I've spent to last 48hours with the flu. I was in-between my bed, the sofa and the bathroom floor. At all times not able to move very easily to the next point, so mainly I was on the bathroom floor. My phone was conveniently on the coffee table in the living room and both my mom and sister were inches/minutes away from calling the police because they thought I had died silently in my duplex alone. Luckily I was able to peel myself off the bathroom floor to answer one of the 20 calls my sister made. AND she was mad at me...ha. Like whatever dude, at that point dying would have been better. Anyway, I re-watched the movie Paperheart and I still can't give it a review. It made me barf the first time and the second time (literally) So a 7up and some whole wheat toast were able to stay where they should this morning so I am at work. Wish me luck......the flu is like those kids of Twilight but less attractive.
