All in Black

Dear Matt, Dan and Derek: I'm sorry I can't make any of your scheduled tour dates with Cursive (you know that Omaha band??) Unfortunately you didn't put Omaha on the dates. Denver sold out way to fast and Lawrence was on my weekend with Jaxson. I know I know, maybe next time??
Your's Truely,

PS. NEXT TIME PUT OMAHA ON THE TOUR JERKS!

But only one post for my favorites. New York Fashion week winners in my book

Song of the Day: Mother Mother-Touch up. I try and post different bands every month but this band/video is so what I need for my Friday and the fact that I dedicated my blog to clothes. I love clothes but I love this video more. It helps me remember to not get too caught up in this fashion stuff because my reality is bargain bin shopping and all day thrifting-benders, and I love it.

Alligator and Alice

Today I'm happy to share yet another Tegen and Sara genius:
I am so in love with these bands choreographing their videos. Rock bands? Dancing? That's so a contradiction I can grow into.
I am also happy to share my excitement for yet another Tim Burton Genius:
Happy Thursday to you!!!!

My Matta Clarking....(con't)

This is my Senior Show for my last college senior project. I tried to find the best pictures I could....Hope this gives you an idea of what it looked like. My idea here was a doorway that showed pictures of my college career, but the symbolic use of the doorway was walking into my new professional career.

Fanfarlo: The Walls Are coming Down

Matta Clarking.

The American artist Gordon Matta-Clark (June 22, 1943-August 27, 1978) has alway been on my list of favorites, so today is for him here on Sequel. He was best known for his site specific work like "building cuts" or just any work done in abandon buildings where he would pick and choose things to cut out: like floors, stairs, ceilings, or walls. Let's talk work of his:
Splitting, A W-Hole House
Bronx Floors
Bingo
End of Days

Conical Intersect for the 1975 Paris Biennale

When I did my Senior show for college, he was my inspiration behind my presentation. I built a door way out of scrape pieces of wood, metal or even spray paint. I displayed it as a symbol of the work I've done in college but walking through the doorway into the next venture of my career. I will have to go home and search for a picture of my senior show.....watch for that. It was awesome. (Just sayin')

Anyway, that's all the time I have today, folks. And I leave you with this Cheap Trick: I want you to want me.

My public look

TODAY....I did it, bare foot tops. So far, I've had my space heater on all morning but at least I can finally show off my Chinese Laundry.....These will NEVER be hung out to dry.

I've got some nice new things going on in La casa de Ginger. First, I'm tapping back into my Spanish learning days from high school. You see, in high school I did what I could to just get by. i.e. cheating. Now as I'm older and wiser, I want to be bi-lingual. So I've been learning the language and so far so good. I'll keep you posted if my Mexican get away will attribute to my love of this language or not!? Also, a friend of mine has graciously offered up his help in an idea for my other wall in my living room, again more to come on that....

Hope you're having a Terrific Tuesday and here's the song of the day: Mother Mother, Hayloft

"Call it residual blues"

This video is so number 1 in my planet right now. And, in an effort to defy spring, I really really quit boots today. I wore my heels, with socks but HEELS none the less. There was no slipping on the ice or walking through a snow pile on my way to any appointments today. It's in the Twenties, I can do that!! Maybe bare foot tops tomorrow?? We'll see. Anyway, hope you enjoy this choreographed rock band music video as much as I did......

Chauncey "Rocky" Wade

Secretly, I'll never tire of this little boy. For those of you who need to know this is my Best Friend's baby and I got to spend a few hours with him Friday night. Cooing and Cawing at me as I snapped as many photos as I could of him. Here's our time together and I am already scheduleing more time with him as soon as his mommy will let him have a bottle, then it's all Ginger/Jax time :)

What I take with me EVERYWHERE.....

A salute to my bag. I recently bought it at Target and I'm obsessed with this blue nation stradle side bag.

The contents. 2 (yes 2 not 1) wallets. 2 pens, one for writing all of the important things I hear all day like: music, quotes that need to be quoted, and the highlighter is for my magazine reading: so that I can remember the cool stuff I read to blog it later :). My classic 80gig IPod: I have so much music to put in my ears every day, I couldn't possibly go without. My glasses case because when I remove them from my face I need to make sure they are secure in a place where they can't get broken. You know if I ever have to get defensive with a stranger and wack them over the head with my bag at least my glasses are safe. Purel, Floss and handy wipes, because I am a mom. My Gloves, because I live in the mid-west and it's always cold in the winter. My old Student ID because that thing gets me discounts still :) earrings for those impromptu sightings of a fine young gentleman that I may need to look a little cooler for. Coming from a woman who didn't get her ears pierced until she was 27, earrings make ya look cooler, trust me. My flash drive just because I'm a professional and to add my business cards. And last but certainly not least the lovely hand bag Kristin gave me to carry all of my meds in. :0 yes, I take meds and I'm not ready to share with you what they are......Things that were not in my bag but join me on the weekends: camera. And things not in my bag because they were taking the picture my IPhone. My lip glosses had to have their own photo. And what's missing: burts bees, I need some ASAP. but I do love my BED HEAD-Luxury red lip stick......It's simply luxurious. As you can see it goes everywhere with me becasue it's worn out on the outside.
Alright that's me in a bag.....Happy Friday.......Good old fashion causal day-Love it!!!!
Song of my day: Alkaline Trio: every Thug Needs a Lady...."Believe in what I am because it's all I have today. And tomorrow who knows where we'll be"

Pork & Beans

You'd hate for the kids to think that you've lost your cool. So Weezer is my song of the day and to add, my week of things:
Found the Blue Nail Polish I've always been looking for....BLUE IT or don't?? "I don't give a woot about what you think"

Also found my next pair of glasses, I see that they are sun glasses but I will just have my eye doc import my prescription of blindness into these talented mr ripley look a-likes from RAY-BAN- THE Clubmaster. Oh yes, I'm so knocking off my dearest Niki with her stellar idea of making sunglasses glasses. But good ideas should be repeated, it's a compliment.

More about my week in more words: So my all-fun-all-the-time life goals are continually interrupted by things like work, taking out the trash, and memories of lost loves. BUT in my motivation to keep myself on the up and up I have managed to stay as busy as humanly possible. Sleep has been illusive, but who cares when there is good company, pizza or Taco Tuesday's to be had in all hours of the night or accidentally falling asleep out of pure exhaustion in my son's twin sized bed??? Do you hear that crack and creeking noise? Yeah, that's my back. And work has been crazy (like shave my head Brittney Spears) nuts! I'm basically a slave from 8 until 5. Lunch comes if only I remember to pack it in the morning and blogging comes only on my 15min smoker allowed breaks. That's right, I'm not addicted to tobacco, I'm addicted to bloggin'.

So later dudes...hope you're having a good week/Thursday!

Pixel Mad World

AS promised I would follow up on a pixel bound search (which I had no idea what I would truly find but it is simply amazing, this little trend) and by using Google image search here are my results:

Pixel Art Tattoos

Pixels meet architecture.

saves the day "at your funeral" music video

When Lacking

Watch movies that disturb you. Remember that movie, Thirteen?? It made you feel terrible about Youth, rebellion and teenage girls in general? As a mom watching that film I thought "Gosh I'm glad I'm raising a boy" However, I'm sure I'll have a whole different playing field of youth and rebellion once my little dude is a teenager. Do you think a trip to Disney world in the next few years could change that? hahaha. I mean come on all the innocence in the world exist in the magical kingdom, and I'm joking! But as a mom this movie really made me think of how important it is to get in good with my kid on a respect level so that if he crosses over into rebellion he can come to me with issues instead of hiding them out of shame. SOOOOOOOOOOo with that being said, I'm going to embark on another disturbing adolescence movie this weekend. Fish Tank.

It'll scare the crap out of me knowing this is the world my child will face (its a movie and dramatized but this stuff really happens) and it should bring me down a few levels from my sheltered mid-western life. Big gulp and I'll report my take on this movie soon......

Second Warm up

So, second post of the day brought to my attention via The Cool Hunter. This is a goodie and quickly become a favorite of mine: pixels. The designer Cristian Zuzunaga (Spanish born) is the front runner in this quest of a trend. So far, I am a follower. To begin this pixel flurry he collaborated with Peter Smith to create:

Then he had a second chance at this pixel world with a partnership in Moroso to create:

All of course limited items and custom creations for this company but it is so gangster and I can't help but wish I'd have a client or two to spec this stuff for.
You can see his actual work on his website that I linked above. Holy smokes I'm so excited about this pixel design, I'm going to try and find a few Wal-mart versions for my house. I'll have to keep you posted on that venture.

New Love

Aurel Schmidt: is ludicrously brilliant.
Photographs shot by Terry Richardson for Purple Magazine..
I love her for her soft palettes in her pieces but mixed with her dirty sense of humor. She's no average artist. Wish I were as bold of an artist chick as her, but then again I'm not even an artist.

her work

The Fall

Burn outs

When asked in her recent interview with Tokion Magazine's Ali Gitlow-What is her process, here was her response" "I really like things that are banal, using objects that you could find anywhere. Any street in New York is full of stuff. Anything I draw, you probably will find in three blocks walking if you just look at the ground. If there is a condom on the stree, which is common, there's a whole story there: Who were those people? What is the back story, their realationship?...."

"..... Aurel Schmidt, an artist who’s known for her almost comically intricate colored-pencil drawings, bought a digital camera for a photo project. Yada, yada, yada, nude pictures of her wound up on the camera’s memory card. And then, miraculously, the camera disappeared. As she packed for Miami, we sent a camera crew to Schmidt’s Avenue A apartment.... "

Many Loves to come

But here's how our kick off of this love-fest will begin. Jaxson has his Valentine's Day Party Tomorrow. And his Box:
Oh I will enjoy seeing his eyes light up as this castle fills with candy in high hopes for only gum. I secretly believe Jaxson is looking forward to receiving a love valentine from a certain young lady in his class. Not sure yet, however I saw the twinkle in his eyes as he handpicked hers out of his X-MEN valentines. He had to make sure was the MOST appropriate card and he also had to make sure he signed his name neatly to her card. Ahhhhh young love. It's so so sweet. But seriously, aren't they too young???

Inspired Love song for this love box: Beatles "All You Need is Love"

American Punk Rock

Oh how I love music like this....Lagwagon "Razor Burn". Their name comes from the band's old tour van.....LOVE

"On the night she left me, facial hair grew miraculously. I dressed in black like Johnny Cash, and grew this beard of shame"

Happy Thursday. Can't wait for Friday!!! We have a weekend of LOVE coming up and I am working on my lists of loves (coming soon).

And yet another song to share

Death Cab: A Diamond and a Tether.

500 days of summer, maybe bravery to park in my garage again and I need to call my pops tonight....

I Hope You'reHappy

Song of the Day: Blakroc

Last night I parked in my garage for the first time. Picture the narrowest driveway you can imagine and then a slight curve to the right after you reach the back of the house and that is the entrance to my garage. Getting in was golden, getting out was un-golden. Think about the recent snow and you will know what happened next. Yep, big old stuck in the snow Hyundai. At least my neighbor was cool and got me out. Sometimes this single-motherhood really has its disadvantages. (Like a man to dig my buried ass out of the snow) BUT it does have it advantages: TAX SEASON! So Hope You’re Happy Now….
