When asked in her recent interview with Tokion Magazine's Ali Gitlow-What is her process, here was her response" "I really like things that are banal, using objects that you could find anywhere. Any street in New York is full of stuff. Anything I draw, you probably will find in three blocks walking if you just look at the ground. If there is a condom on the stree, which is common, there's a whole story there: Who were those people? What is the back story, their realationship?...."
"..... Aurel Schmidt, an artist who’s known for her almost comically intricate colored-pencil drawings, bought a digital camera for a photo project. Yada, yada, yada, nude pictures of her wound up on the camera’s memory card. And then, miraculously, the camera disappeared. As she packed for Miami, we sent a camera crew to Schmidt’s Avenue A apartment.... " New York Times Style Magazine
